Donna Mullins’ passion for children is at the very core of her being. As a mother of two and a former kindergarten teacher (graduating from Tennessee Temple University), she was well aware of the power of God’s love and the difference it makes when planted early in a child’s heart.
This conviction was brought home to her in a powerful new way during a mission trip to Russia and Romania in 1993. There she witnessed the marked changes in the lives of several devastated refugee children. These changes were the direct result of a dedicated Godly couple. They worked diligently with each child they brought into their home to demonstrate God’s love to bring them to emotional stability and good health. The seed that was planted in Romania took root in Donna Mullins’ heart.

Upon returning to Palm Beach Gardens, while in prayer, the words from Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor, Defend the cause of the fatherless…” came alive. She knew it was our God-given responsibility to respond to the tremendous need of hurting children in our community.

The vision for Place of Hope grew out of the compassion she has for hurting children and culminated in the opening of our first Place of Hope cottage on May 1, 2001. As the Co-founder, for stepping out in faith with the vision that has ultimately raised the bar in the standard of care for foster children in Palm Beach County.
