Seven Stars Emergency Shelter

Seven Stars Emergency ShelterPlace of Hope's Seven Stars Emergency Shelter is Palm Beach County's first and only faith-based family-style emergency shelter for abused and neglected children providing short-term emergency care and support services for up to eight boys (ages six to thirteen) who have been removed from their homes by the State of Florida due to allegations of abuse, neglect, or abandonment and are temporarily unable to return home. The emergency shelter operates at a secured location in a traditional family neighborhood, welcoming children into a safe, healthy, and productive environment 24 hours a day/seven days a week.

Seven Stars Emergency Shelter

The Seven Stars Emergency Shelter provides counseling, professional case management, therapy (individual and groups), and comprehensive support services to ensure the safety and well-being of dependent children while providing consistent residential care, supervision, healthy influences, and services that strive to meet each child's physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and educational needs.

Seven Stars Enrichment Team:

We have created a team of volunteers to enrich the lives of our boys in the Seven Stars Emergency Shelter.  Having been removed from their own homes, it is easy for them to become hopeless and overwhelmed with the current events of their lives.  With our volunteers coming in pairs to do craft projects, cook a meal, bake goodies, complete school work or even just playing games, it adds a sense of normalcy and relief to the chaos.  We have seen that by just showing an interest in a child’s life, we can convey the hope and healing that Christ can bring.  Without specifically addressing their particular situation, our volunteers reach out and showing our kids that they are important, special and have tremendous potential.  Enthusiasm is contagious and simple, positive reinforcement may very well change their lives.

Resources for the extras are most welcome, as they help defray the cost of some of the meals, projects, and events, but they are certainly not expected or required.

If you, or someone you know, are interested in joining our team, please contact Chad Vaughan at chadv@placeofhope.com.
