At Place of Hope, we are always looking for new ways to add value to the lives of our youth. Whether they are playing sports, studying, taking dance lessons or fishing, we understand the importance of enriching kids’ lives. Stephen Heiman understands this too. He recently volunteered at Place of Hope, offering his own special skill. Stephen Christopher Designs worked closely with eight Place of Hope children, teaching them valuable carpentry skills by assisting them in building a gorgeous farm style picnic table.
“Knowing how much I learned from my shop teacher, I wanted to find a way to give back and continue passing along those life development skills. During the process of the build, I got to talk to them and hear some of their stories. So while talking with them, I tried to relate the process of building this table with real life experiences and what it has taught me, hoping they would think about these projects in that perspective. I hope to continue this mentorship program with the kids at Place of Hope and I’m excited to see them continue to grow and develop their skills.”
