When Monique was 18 years old, she found herself pregnant without any family support. With nowhere to turn, she reached out to Joann’s Cottage for help. There, she received food, shelter, and the opportunity to regain stability in her life. While she was at Joann’s, she began to pray and build her relationship with Christ. She soon found a job and was able to graduate high school; something she hadn’t thought was possible for her. Someone chose to make an impact in her and her daughter’s life. Monique recounts, “With the help of the Joann’s Cottage staff, I was able to provide for my daughter and show her that she is loved and appreciated. My experience at Joann’s taught me so much, and I cry tears of joy as I look back on my journey. One day I’ll be able to share my testimony with my child and she will be able to say, ‘My mom did that for me.’ Psalm 27:10 reads, ‘Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.'”
