Hard Exercise Works in Wellington hosted a park WOD Saturday morning, July 23 to encourage the community to get #fitforhope in support of over 300 foster kids in our daily care!
The morning proved fun for the whole family as over 120 people showed up to Seminole Palms Park. HEW, Wellington partnered with Chick-fil-a in The Mall at Wellington Green and Chick-fil-a Royal Palm to provide food for the fitness goers. The infamous Chick-fil-a cow was seen doing burpees and high knees alongside the 120 attendees.
When approached about hosting a #fitforhope day, HEW Wellington Owner, John Szarskewski, immediately jumped on board and with great excitement began planning this field day style event!
Thursday night before the Saturday event, John posted on his Facebook: “’Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world’. I’m blown away by our #hewwelly community pulling together to raise over $1,500 for Place of Hope foster care organization in ONE DAY!! Everyone that graced us coaches with burpees today… Thank you. We still have 1 more day to donate #fitforhope.”
Earlier that morning at their 6am class, John and his team of coaches issued a burpee challenge to ramp up the excitement for their park WOD Saturday: For every $1 donated to Place of Hope, you could challenge a coach to do a burpee.
Lisa Hohn’s daughter, Addison Cocuzzo, told her on Saturday “…today was the best day of my life because we raised a lot of money for the kids!”
The end result was $6,000 raised from the HEW Wellington Community! The Place of Hope family would like to say, “thank you” to HEW Wellington, Chick-fil-a in The Mall at Wellington Green, Chick-fil-a Royal Palm and all who came out to the park to get #fitforhope in support of local foster children. You are helping to change lives!
